The results of global malaria project now published

9 May 2017

Dr Janne Mannila, Senior scientist in vivo DMPK at Admescope, had a pleasure to participate in a multinational scientific project aiming for malaria eradication. In the research article ”Antimalarial efficacy of MMV390048, an inhibitor of Plasmodium phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase” the researchers discovered that a derivative of 2-aminopyridine class of small molecules, MMV390048, was efficacious to block all life cycle stages of the malaria parasite giving good expectations for further drug development.

It was great to be part of this global collaboration and I hope the drug will eventually make it to the market as a single-dose cure”, says Dr Mannila.

The results of the project are published in Science Translational Medicine.
